The Douglas County Master Gardeners have decided to create our own Native and Medicinal Garden on the Douglas County Fairgrounds. It will take awhile to get this all in place but we are excited about the challenge. Our EMG volunteers are “patiently” waiting to set up this year’s garden. We have already set up a shed, with help from the Douglas County workers at the Fairground. The photos above show workers assembling the pieces, putting up the walls and some of the garden committee members celebrating the completion of the shed. We are slowly returning the EMG tools we have stored at our homes since last fall to the shed, including six raised beds in boxes. We will assemble those when the site is ready and will be adapting the “lasagna” method of bed prep for the raised beds.
