Delicious and Healthy Eating: A Conversation – April 15

Please join us on April 15, at 10:30 am to learn about Delicious and Healthy Eating: A Conversation presented by Joan Spann and Lori Trojan. Joan Spann is a fifth-generation Kansan and graduate of Emporia State University, currently semi-retired. She has had several Trainer and Manager roles with major business and government organizations. She is current President of Douglas County Master Food Volunteers and Co-owner/Manager of The Bakery at Red Table Farm. Lori Trojan comes from a multi-generational family growing and using herbs for health and nourishment with a Business degree and minor in Nutrition.  She is a Master Herbalist, EMG, Educator, Farmer and Author.  Lori owns Wild Ivy Herb Farm, where she grows over 75 varieties of kitchen and medicinal herbs as well as maintains an Elderberry orchard. She also hosts educational workshops as well as community gatherings on her farm.

The presentation will cover:

  • After healthy food growing, intentional ways to prepare your harvest
  • Question to the audience–what do you consider healthy eating?
  • Question to the audience–what foods refuse to taste good in your kitchen?
  • Various ways to prepare organic foods deliciously
  • When herbs are used for flavor, what nutritional/medicinal value do they hold?
  • Commonly used herbs in cooking
  • Benefits to various age groups
  • Online resources to aid your research

ll of our education programs start at 10:30 am, are approximately one hour long, and are free and open to the public. You can attend the live presentation in the North room of the Dreher 4-H Family Building on the Douglas County fairgrounds, or attend online by registering before the presentation here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
